Daltonganj, Aug 22: The Man Friday of the notorious gangster Sujit Sinha, Manish Kumar Ram alias Mayank Verma, 28, was finally remanded in judicial custody today in Daltonganj whom the police intercepted at Rehla and had recovered eight pistols and 20 live cartridges on Monday from him. The weapons and ammunition were in a black bag.

Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan today held a small briefing on this smart catch as well as the seizure of a modest cache of eight pistols and 20 live rounds of fire.

About the man, she said, “Manish is on bail since this February and today he is again back in judicial custody. He used to do odd jobs for his master Sujit and his wife Riya. He was once the bodyguard of Riya.”

Ramesan further said, “Before coming to the world of crime he used to eke out his living in Gujarat. This Palamu man joined the bandwagon of the gangster perhaps to earn more bucks.”

About the eight pistols, she said, ” These eight pistols were brought from Manawer, Indore in Madhya Pradesh. These eight were to be given to Riya, the wife of the gangster Sujit in Ranchi.”

The gangster’s man was travelling incognito in a public transport from Raipur to Daltonganj little knowing the special branch of the state and the local Palamu police were on his track.

The gangster’s man was finally intercepted at Rehla in Palamu. A team of 10 policemen led by the officer in-charge of the Rehla police station Nemdhari Rajak got him down from the bus.

The SP said the gangster’s man knew at once that he could do nothing now. He just yielded. And the police too did not act any flamboyant.

Manish has four cases against him in Ranchi district alone. The cases against him are with the police stations of Kanke, Nagri and Sukhdev Nagar.

The look and finish of the eight seized pistols resemble any regular one but here Reeshma Ramesan said, “I won’t comment on it. Let there be a forensic firearms examination first. The look and finish are definitely sophisticated.”
