Daltonganj, Dec 31: Former MLA and veteran BJP leader Girinath Singh said on Saturday, “It’s like leopard curfew in the hamlets close to the jungles all for the fear of this carnivore which has so far taken four lives, three of them alone in Garhwa.”
Speaking to lagatar24.com from Ranka block which shot to leopard infamy following the killing and eating of human flesh in a boy, Singh said, “Fear is all around. Women are more scared. They are not coming to the market with their children. They are equally worried as to how children will behave back home. It’s leopard and leopard only.”
He added that the leopard fear is in the air and every second person is talking about the man-eating animal.
The BJP leader said he spoke to the chief secretary Sukhdev Singh and apprised him about the loss of lives to the leopard in Garhwa.
The BJP leader said the chief secretary wanted to know from him if this is the first instance of its kind or has Garhwa witnessed it before to which Singh added that this leopard terror is the first of its kind in recent memory.
Singh said he also told the chief secretary how in 1969 he and his father and others had neutralised a man-eating tiger which had killed and eaten 22 human beings.
Sources said the leopard is still beyond eyesight except for some hurly-burly in the jungles making one believe the leopard could be around in the jungles. People who now sight hynae are scared to confirm if it is hynae or leopard!
