Daltonganj, Nov 15: A one-day reorientation session with doctors and lab technicians under the aegis of the National Vector-Borne Disease Control Programme was held under the chairmanship of Garhwa civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar on Monday in Garhwa.
Speaking to lagatar24.com today, Dr Anil Kumar said this was an effort to sensitize the medical force to take on any challenge arising out of the vector-borne disease.
“As of now, Dengue is a much talked about thing and for this, we sat on Monday here in Garhwa to find out the measures to fight it out,” he said.
He said there is no reason to panic but at the same time, there is no room for ignoring high fever, pain in the back of the eyes, break bone pain, nausea and vomiting, and rashes on the body as in the event of any such or a couple of symptoms, a person should immediately visit government health hubs for diagnosis and treatment. Paracetamol, lots of water and adequate rest can defeat Dengue unless it is not of any severity like bleeding from a few orifices of the body or fever crossing the thermometer.
Dr Anil Kumar said Sadar hospital Garhwa has a facility for counting the platelets which matter most in the dengue case.
About Elisa test, the civil surgeon said, “This test facility is not available in the Sadar hospital Garhwa. We will be sending samples of serum of the concerned patient to the MMCH Daltonganj where the Elisa test is done. Earlier, we were sending samples for the Elisa test to the RIMS Ranchi which is more than 210 km away from Garhwa but now it will reach in around an hour to MMCH Daltonganj.”
District Vector-Borne Disease Control Consultant Arvind Kumar Dwivedi said this session was very useful as it refreshed every one of us as to how to go about it.
The session was attended by the district vector-borne disease control officer Dr Kamlesh Kumar, Dr Birender and others.
