Daltonganj, Oct 27: A team of doctors comprising Dr Anil Kumar (civil surgeon), Dr Awadesh Singh (deputy superintendent and orthopaedic surgeon) Dr R S Singh, Dr Birender Kumar and others of the Garhwa Sadar Hospital conducted a successful bipolar implant hip replacement surgery on a 60-year-old primitive Korwa tribal named Raj Kumar Korwa.
It is being seen as a refreshing event in the hospital since hip replacement at a government hospital, especially at Garhwa Sadar Hospital where there had been no orthopaedic doctor for a long time, it is like a new chapter in the treatment for bone and bone-related issues.
Raj Kumar Korwa had his right hip broken which was replaced. He was admitted on October 18.
The Garhwa Sadar Hospital incidentally has two doctors who now have a long-standing practice, experience and reputation for being orthopaedic surgeons namely Dr Anil Kumar, the Garhwa civil surgeon and Dr Awadesh Singh, the deputy superintendent.
Earlier, the orthopaedic cases were mostly referred to the higher centre MMCH Daltonganj but efforts are on to help the patients in need of orthopaedic treatment right at the Sadar hospital Garhwa now.
Dr Awadesh Singh appealed to the poor to not fall into the trap of the middlemen or quacks but straightway reach a government hospital for proper treatment.
Garhwa Civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar said, “We are determined to provide medical services to the needy as far as possible and let nobody be having any doubt about our efforts as we believe in teamwork and our doctors and staff all here in Garhwa district are of this view – patients’ service is our motto.”
“There is a fallacy that civil surgeon can’t do OPD duty, conduct postmortem or night duty as he/she has other tasks to perform, but I believe and practice that a civil surgeon has to do what his profession demands and that is catering to the medical services in a personal capacity too,” he added.
