Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sensational 175-run innings against West Indies in the second Test lit up Arun Jaitley Stadium, but it was Sunil Gavaskar’s witty remark that stole the spotlight. Praising the young batter, Gavaskar said, “Keep scoring daddy hundreds… but because I am a grandfather I will take it as a granddaddy hundred.”

Jaiswal Surpasses Sachin’s Record

The 23-year-old opener continues his incredible form, notching his seventh Test century and fifth 150-plus score. With this feat, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar for the most 150+ scores by an Indian before turning 24. Globally, he now trails only Don Bradman, who achieved eight such scores at the same age.

Run-Out Ends a Stellar Innings

Resuming on Day 2 at 173, Jaiswal was run out after a mix-up with Shubman Gill, adding just two runs. Reflecting on his dismissal, he said, “If I’m there, I should just take the game forward and play as long as I can. It’s part of the game, so it’s fine.” India declared their innings at 518/5, while West Indies finished Day 2 on 140/4.
