Dhanbad, Jan 27: Giridih police claimed to have arrested three persons involved in supplying arms and explosives to banned Naxals organizations from different parts of the district.
Giridih Sadar SDPO Anil Kumar Singh while talking to media persons on Thursday evening at Giridih police Line said that these three are prize catches of police who were suppliers of arms and ammunition to Naxals in the district.
The arrested arms and explosive suppliers were identified as Shamsher Alam of Purana Nagar under Murmu of Pirtand police station. The arrested persons were sent to jail.
The district police consider it as a major breakthrough in the anti-Naxal drive as members of the banned organization have made Giridih district their main target in sabotaging during a weeklong protest ( January 21 to January 26) against the arrest of hardcore Prashant Bose and his wife Sheela Marandi and 24 hours Jharkhand- Bihar Bandh for their better facilities at the hospital.
Naxals had robbed the sleep of Giridih police by blowing up two mobile towers in Pirtand police station on the night of January 21 and blowing up two bridges in Dumri police station on the night of January 22.
On the night of January 26, Naxals had also triggered an explosion on the railway track between Chichaki and Karmabandh railway stations of Dhanbad rail Division under Sariya police station of Giridih.
