Dhanbad, Jan 29: Giridih police have recovered a can bomb planted in Naxal-affected Karnapura village of Tundi block, around 35 km away from Dhanbad district headquarters.
Dhanbad SP (rural) Reshma Rameshan said that after arresting three Naxals, a team of police reached Karnpura village under Maniyadih police station on Friday evening and recovered the can bomb hidden in a deserted land.
“Explosive disposal squad of Ranchi today defused the can bomb and security has been tightened in the block,” said the rural SP.
The police official said that arresting three Naxals from Khukhara police station in Giridih on Friday led to the recovery of the can bomb in Dhanbad.
Giridih police had on Friday arrested Raju Murmu, Ajit Besra and Vijay Soren from Khukhra police station with arms and ammunition.
The arrested Naxals admitted to the police officer and said that they had involvement in blowing up mobile towers, bridges and water tanks at night of January 22 and January 23 during week-long Resistance Day (January 21 to 26) in Giridih.
Tundi block of Dhanbad, which is borders Giridih district, is considered Naxal-affected. The district administration has already set up a CRPF camp in Maniyadih to curb the activities of the banned organization.
