Suri, April 14: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, urged voters on Friday to make certain that the BJP wins 35 of the 42 West Bengal seats in the next Lok Sabha elections, warning that the TMC government will not last through 2025 if the goal is met.

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee administration for having a ‘Hitler-like regime,’ Shah claimed that if the BJP wins more than 35 seats in the state and comes to power in 2024, “no one would dare to attack Ram Navami rallies in the state.”

Speaking at a rally in Birbhum district, Shah said, “Let me say it clearly that Narendra Modi will be the country’s Prime Minister again. In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, give us more than 35 seats from West Bengal, and I can assure you that the Mamata Banerjee government won’t survive beyond 2025”.

“Mamata Banerjee might dream of making her nephew the next CM, but the next Chief Minister of West Bengal will be from the BJP. Only the BJP can fight and defeat the corrupt TMC,” he said.

Notably, the third term of the Mamata Banerjee administration is expected to end in 2026.Abhishek, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, is an MP and the national general secretary of the TMC. In West Bengal, the BJP won 18 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 elections.

The TMC termed Shah’s remarks as “undemocratic and unconstitutional”.
