Ranchi, Aug.14: Governor Ramesh Bais in a programme organised at Sidho Kanhu Murmu University in Dumka today stressed the need of informing the young generation regarding the heroes of freedom struggle of their localities in such a way that they not only know about them but also get motivated from their lives.
The Governor cum Chancellor of universities stressed the need of informing about legends while remembering heroes of the Santhal Revolution, Sido and Kanhu, who started struggle against Britishers two years before the first war of independence on June 30, 1855 at Bhognadih and put Britishers in trouble.
The governor on the occasion also underlined the need for quality education saying educational institutions should not only give degrees but knowledge also as without knowledge degree is meaningless. He was of the opinion that proper attention is required to be given to the making of man as a good man finds his path of success.
Santhal Pargana is known for its talent in the field of football and shooting. Referring to this, Governor Bais asked the university authorities to hunt talent in the field and promote sports.
Earlier, Bais accompanied by his better half Rama Bai Bais reached Dumka by train.
