New Delhi, Sep 1: GST revenue has increased by 11 per cent on an annual basis in August 2023. Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra gave this information on Friday. In August 2022, Rs 1,43,612 crore was collected from Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Malhotra told reporters, roughly, there has been an increase of 11 per cent on an annual basis. With this 11 per cent increase, roughly the collection would be around Rs 1.60 lakh crore. He was replying to a question on the expected GST revenue for August, the figure of which will be released by Friday evening.
“Roughly numbers are in the range of 11 per cent year-on-year growth as in earlier months,” Malhotra told reporters.
Malhotra said that the GDP in the April-June quarter was 7.8 per cent. GST revenue increased by more than 11 per cent in the June quarter. This means that the tax-GDP ratio is more than 1.3.
