Gumla, Feb 28: The Gumla District Bar Association election is being held on Monday. Current president Nand Lal is in the fray to play his hat-trick innings, while to stop his way, Gidwar Aghan Oraon, who tasted defeat at the post of secretary last time, with full strength to wear the president’s crown.
Due to Nandlal’s inclusion in the race for the third time, the election of this post is being considered a very interesting and tough one. However, despite holding the charge of two consecutive presidential terms, Nand Lal could not get the Advocate Protection Act implemented, which is the most prominent demand of the lawyers.
Meanwhile, 27 candidates are in the fray for the seven posts. Their electoral fate is in the hands of 232 voters, who will choose their representative from among them.
In order to conduct a peaceful election, Mrityunjay Srivastava, Radheshyam Goswami, Parameshwar Mandal, besides the election officer of the association, Heera Ohdar, election committee members Tapas Kumar Lal and Madhura Toppo were sent from the State bar council for supervision.
Interestingly, Ajay Jaiswal has won unopposed on the post of treasurer. On the other hand, Uday Sankar and Surendra Ohdar are face to face for the deputy treasurer.
