Gumla girl to run on Colombian tracks in August

Ranchi, April 7: Supriti Kachhap from Gumla has qualified for the Junior World Athletics Championship by finishing seventh in the 5000 meters event during the 25th Senior Federation Cup Athletics Competition held in Calicut.

 

Supriti finished seventh with a time of 16:33:09 minutes but the qualifying time for the Junior World Athletics Championship was 16:40:00. The Championship will be organised in Kali, Colombia from August 2 to 7.

 

Supriti has expressed her feelings and said that she is happy with her qualification and will do her best in Colombia in August.

 

This will be the first instance when Supriti will take part in an event outside India. Supriti has won two gold medals in the Khelo India 2020 in the 3000-meter event and a  4 km national cross country race held in Punjab last year.
