Deoghar: Panic gripped Deoghar on Sunday evening after gunfire erupted near the Singh Dwar of the famous Baba Mandir. The incident, which occurred around 5 PM, reportedly stemmed from a personal dispute. Four assailants on a single bike fired shots and attacked an elderly man with a pistol butt, leaving him seriously injured.

Violence escalates near temple gates

Police said the assailants first fired near Shiksha Sabha Chowk before heading towards the Singh Dwar area, where they got into a heated altercation with  elderly Ramnath Naraune. The argument turned violent when the attackers struck him on the head and chest with a pistol. They then fired shots while fleeing toward the Shivganga area.

Police response and investigation underway

Local police rushed to the scene and took the injured man to Sadar Hospital for treatment. After initial medical aid, he was brought to the police station for questioning. A used cartridge was recovered from the site, and CCTV footage from surrounding areas is being examined to identify the culprits.

Security concerns raised by locals

This incident has raised serious questions about security in the temple town. Locals say such violent acts are becoming common and have demanded strict action against the perpetrators along with increased police patrolling.
