Gurmeet Ram Rahim convicted in murder case, verdict on October 12

Rahim is already in jail for rape and murder case

The CBI court in Panchkula has convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim and five other accused in the murder of Dera manager Ranjit Singh. The CBI has convicted all of them under Section 302(murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). All of them will be sentenced on October 12.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is already serving a jail term in a rape case, has also been convicted in a murder case. The CBI court in Panchkula has convicted him and five other accused in the murder of Dera manager Ranjit Singh. All of them will be sentenced on October 12. Ranjit Singh was shot dead on 10 July 2002 in Kurukshetra, Haryana after he went against Dera Chief. Khatta Singh, a servant of the dera, had accused Ram Rahim of killing Ranjit Singh.

Notably, Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 20 years for raping two sadhvis. In addition to this he is serving a life sentence for the murder of a journalist. On 25 August 2017, a special CBI court in Panchkula convicted him and sent him to Sunarian District Jail. On August 27, a CBI court was set up in the jail itself.
