Varanasi, May 31: The four Hindu women petitioners in the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi Mosque case were ordered by the Varanasi district court on Tuesday to keep the CDs with leaked video footage and images of the survey safe.
A day after the court-ordered survey inside the masjid was leaked and aired on various television channels and social media platforms, the four women went to court to surrender the CDs.
Four of the five Hindu women petitioners were handed copies of the footage in a sealed package by the district court after they signed an affidavit promising not to make the content of the Compact Disks (CDs) public.
The court did not return the video footage CDs and set July 4 as the next hearing date. The women want to be able to worship inside the mosque, saying that there is a ‘Shivling’ on the premises.
An case was filed in the Varanasi district court demanding a CBI investigation into the leakage of the sealed documents, according to advocate Shivam Gaur, who is representing petitioner Rakhi Singh.
