The former cricketer was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab with no opposition. He stated that he will encourage sports since he has been given a task that he will faithfully execute. In March of this year, the Aam Aadmi Party nominated five candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections. The party’s candidates were all elected without opposition.
After capturing 92 of the 117 Assembly seats in Punjab, the party had accomplished a clean sweep. The landslide victory meant that the AAP had a good chance of winning all five Rajya Sabha seats.
