Nuh, August 3: After a curfew was put in place in the area due to clashes between the groups in the state, paramilitary troops carried out a flag march in Nuh on Thursday.
The district’s streets were deserted due to the local curfew.
People are having trouble getting ration supplies from the shop, a local said.
“We are facing trouble when it comes to procuring ration items. There is an atmosphere of fear around. We are not sending the children outside. We are very scared at night as well, don’t know what will happen,” a local said.
Another local who deals in the selling of vegetables claimed that because customers aren’t making purchases, their income has been impacted.
“I deal in selling vegetables but for the past 2-3 days the sales have been affected…If customers don’t come, how will we earn a living? Since nobody is coming, the vegetables are getting spoiled. We are very troubled,” he said.
In the meantime, six deaths related to the unrest in the Haryana district of Nuh have been reported.
Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana, reported that 116 persons have been detained overall in relation to the violence that occurred on Monday in Nuh and resulted in the deaths of six people, including two Home Guards.
The state government on Wednesday declared that mobile internet services will be suspended in certain districts until August 5 due to the critical and stressful conditions in Haryana’s Nuh, Faridabad and Palwal districts as well as in three sub-divisions of Gurugram.
After a religious procession travelling through the district was attacked, clashes between two groups broke out in Nuh on Monday afternoon. The ensuing violence left two house guards dead and dozens of people, including about 20 policemen, injured.
The state government has also decided to move the 2nd IRB’s battalion headquarters from Bhondsi to Nuh forthwith.
“The state government has decided to immediately shift the battalion headquarters of 2nd IRB from Police Complex, Bhondsi to district Nuh to meet imminent operational exigencies of maintaining law and order, peace and security,” an official notification said.
Following the violent happenings in Nuh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar promised on Wednesday that no one would escape punishment and that severe justice would be provided for the victims and their families.
Anil Vij, the state’s Home Minister, claimed that social media significantly contributed to the violence in Nuh.
