Jamshedpur, Oct 10: A middle-aged woman was arrested by a team of Haryana police from the Govindpur police station area of steel city in the wee hours today.

After arresting the woman, identified as Jagjit Kaur alias Jashna, the police team moved steps into the Jamshedpur court in the morning for obtaining transit remand to Haryana.

A resident of Kamdhenu Apartment in Govindpur, Jashna and her husband Sunil Kapoor was accused of cheating and misappropriation in a city in that state in the year 2021.

In this connection, the police had procured an arrest and were searching for the accused couple who was hiding at a relative’s house in Govindpur.

Govindpur police station OC, Dharmendra Agarwal who assisted the visiting police team in the execution of the arrest warrant said that Jashna’s husband managed to escape during the raid conducted jointly by Haryana and Govindpur police.

“There was a commotion at the apartment where the accused couple were staying. Sunil Kapoor managed to flee the scene taking advantage of the commotion. But the police succeeded to arrest the woman,” said Agarwal while talking to lagatar24.com.

Agarwal, on being queried, could not say the details related to the case in which both Jashna and Sunil Kapoor were accused, but said that it was a big case and it involved a huge amount of money.

It may be mentioned here that the Govindpur locality is emerging as a hiding place for criminals.

Six months ago, a team of Delhi police had arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a case of cybercrime from Subhash Nagar of the Govindpur police station area. Having fled from Delhi, the cybercriminal was working here as a contract worker by staying at a rented house by concealing his real identity.
