Hazaribag, June 2: There was a violent clash between the villagers and the police for about three hours on Friday near Romi Bungalow located at Urwan Mor under the Padma police station of Hazaribagh. During this, many jawans and villagers were injured. To control the situation, the police had to release tear gas shells. Later, the police team took action arresting 15 who were behind the stone pelting incident.

The matter is related to 10 decimal land for which a police team was in Padma to get it encroachment free. But people already settled on that land for years started protesting. In such a situation, the police and the villagers came face to face. The villagers pelted stones at the police. Because of this, the situation became uncontrollable. The police had to release tear gas to disperse the troublemakers.

About this land, sources said, in December 2022, Jawan Prakash Kumar Sharma, who is serving in BSF, was given 10 decimal land as an endowment lease in Romi village under Sainik Endowment. When Prakash Kumar Sharma arrived in 2023 after taking leave from duty to get work done on his land, he had to face opposition from the local people. The jawan, who served in BSF for 22 years, made a written complaint to the DC, SP, SDM, CO and local police station but he did not get justice. In Padma OP, a case was registered under 107  against 13 people.  Earlier, it was said that this land belongs to the school. When the school clarified that the land did not belong to it, the local people protested again saying it was public land creating trouble for the BSF jawan.

After which, on the complaint of the BSF jawan, the police officers along with the team today reached to get the land free, where a violent clash took place. Police officials said a total of 15 trouble makers were caught and the entire area turned into a cantonment. The situation is now under control, added officials.
