Hazaribag: 22 children fall sick after consuming poisonous wild fruits

Hazaribag, March 5: Around 22 children have fallen ill after eating wild poisonous fruit in the Pakri village of Jamri Bakspura panchayat of Kanhachatti block on Sunday. All children aged between 6 to 11 years are students of upgraded Primary School in Pakri.

Villagers have said all children had gone to the forest on Saturday evening and collected some fruits from there. Without knowing about the effects the fruits may have, they consumed the fruits while returning back to their homes.

However, once home, they started vomiting and complaining of stomach pain making their parents rush them to the local health centre Primary Health Center Kanhachatti for first aid. Later doctors referred them to Chatra Sadar hospital for better treatment.

Upon getting information about it, BJP MP from Chatra Sunil Singh, state labour minister Satyanand Bhokta, Zila parishad vice president Birju Tiwari, sadar subdivision officer Mumtaz Ansari and SDPO Avinash Kumar reached Sadar Hospital to get information about the sick children.

The ministers and other officials met the doctors asking them to provide proper treatment to the children. The Minister and the Zilla Parishad Vice President met the relatives of the sick children and assured them of all help if needed. They further said that if needed, they will take the children to another place for better treatment.

These sick children include Hariom Yadav, Srishti Kumari, Baijnath Yadav, Rajan Kumar, Kailash Bhuiyan, Kumar Ujjwal,  Piyush Kumar, Lakhan Yadav, Pammi Kumari,  Kailash Bhuiyan, Madhuri Kumari, Ranjan Kumar, Kailash Bhuiyan, Sagar Kumar, Shyamdev, Uday Kumar, Jageshwar Bhuiyan, Ranjan Kumar, Madan Yadav, Binita Kumari, Sanjay Bhuiyan, Shiv Kumar, Jageshwar Bhuiyan, Arjun Kumar, Makhauli Bhuiyan, Anupriya Kumari, Karan Yadav, Chandni Kumari, Vinod Bhuiyan, Arjun Kumar, Anil Yadav and Shambhu Kumar. According to doctors, the children are now out of danger.
