VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribag, Jan.4: A couple blamed Vikram Kumar, officer-in-charge of Barkatha police station for beating them mercilessly. Due to the beating, woman Champa Devi suffered injuries on her body, and a nail from her toe also came out. The couple gave their complaint in writing to SP Manoj Ratan Chauthe demanding action against Vikram Kumar.
Champa said they are having a land dispute with their relatives and get threatened regularly. Due to this, they informed officials of Barkatha police.
“On Monday, I and my husband called the police station where Vikram Kumar started beating my husband Munna Yadav, a resident of Budhiadih village of Barkatha,” Champa said.
She added that when she protested, Vikram locked her husband in lockup and started beating her.
“He hit my foot with his boot due to which a nail of the toe came out. As the bleeding started, my husband was freed and we were forced to leave the station immediately. His conduct was like a criminal and we want action against him,” the couple added.
However, when asked, Vikram denied it.
“What they said is totally wrong and nothing such has happened,” he added.
