Hazaribag, March 11: A surprise inspection conducted at 48-PDS shops across the district by the vigilance committee comprising of 48 officers formed under the leadership of deputy commissioner Nancy Sahay resulted in the cancelation of the license of the three.
Officials on Saturday shared the details of this inspection informing that the license of three PDS shops was canceled on the allegation of gross irregularity and the operation of 17 PDS shops was suspended after an explanation.
Sources said in view of frequent complaints, Sahay had given orders for a thorough investigation. On March 10, a surprise inspection of 80 PDS shops in the district was conducted till late evening by a total of 48 district-level officers of the team. Orders were given to each and every officer for intensive investigation of five PDS shops per block.
In the surprise inspection at the district level, the action was taken to cancel the licenses of three PDS dealers on the basis of gross irregularities like the absence of an epos device, weighing machine, complaints of beneficiaries regarding irregular services. Seventeen PDS dealers’ licenses were suspended and show-caused for the improper storage facility and outlets closed at the time of inspection.
In addition to the intensive checking drive, instructions were issued to most of the dealers regarding food grain storage management, inventory management, timely delivery of supplies, proper display of information related to the concerned vigilance societies.
