Hazaribag, Feb 19: A 52-year-old man, Badri Karmali, who was presumed dead, walked in on his family members as they were performing his shradh rites on February 17.
The villagers mistook him for a ghost and started fleeing. However, they soon discover that Badri Kalmari is alive and was working as a daily wage labourer in the Burukunda district of Ramgarh.
The incident took place in the Shyampatti area of Charhi, 30 km away from the Hazaribag district headquarters.
As per information, a dead body was found hanging from a tree in a forest area on February 4 which was unrecognizable. The body was also shown to Badri’s relatives. They identified the body as the missing Badri. After an autopsy, the body was handed over to them. Financially weak, Badri’s son Guddu Karmali and his three daughters raised funds to perform the last rites and the 12-day shradh.
However on Friday, when Badri’s family members were performing the shradh, he reached there. Badri said he went to see his married daughter in Urimari of Ramgarh but they were all afraid. After they realised that he is not a ghost, they came to him and told him about the ongoing shradh and that his daughter had gone there to attend it. After this, he immediately took a passenger vehicle to reach Charhi village.
After the shradh was performed, Badri’s wife Savitri was declared a widow and now the villagers said Guddu to organise a remarriage for his father Badri and his mother Savitri.
Guddu said that after shradh, the remarriage of his parents is mandatory and for this, he needs money again. Guddu has requested Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Mandu MLA of BJP JP Patel, Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay and Zila Parishad representatives to support him by providing funds for his parent’s remarriage.
