Hazaribag, Feb 28: Snatching incidents in Hazaribag has been taking place regularly with police linking this to the notorious Koda gang of Bihar.
On Monday evening, two bike-borne criminals snatched Rs 80,000 from a couple who withdrew the money and were walking on a busy stretch of the town when the incident took place.
Police officials said Koda gang members are committing crimes in a clever way to hoodwink police and they are not carrying mobile phones.
Mohammad Jahir, a resident of Kazi Mohalla said he was carrying a bag containing cash in hand. All of a sudden, two youths came and snatched the bag.
Police officials said their investigation so far revealed that all snatching cases were committed by the Koda gang.
“Our investigation took us to Katihar of Bihar also from where this gang is being operated but we failed to get clues related to its member,” added a police officer.
Even police officials said Koda gang members change the city after committing a crime leaving no evidence for police. They said Koda gang members do recce of the bank first by knowing about the number of guards to the day in a month when maximum footfall takes place there.
“This is the reason why gang members commit snatching incidents without using arms,” they added.
Police officials said they are ensuring patrolling in town to put a check on such crimes.
