VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribag, Oct.10: Large numbers of villagers, maximum women, on Monday aired their anger against the allocation of the Gondalpura coal block in Barkagaon to Adani enterprises. In this direction, a gram sabha was organised by the company near Balohar primary school for three villages including Balohar, Fulag and Hahe.
Villagers of the trio villages came here in large numbers airing slogans against the company. They were carrying placards which read “Adani wapas jao (Go back Adani).” They said they don’t want to give their lands to the company.
“We are dependent on this land only for everything and so don’t want to give this for any project. We don’t have a health centre here and many other facilities and no one taken care of it ever. Now they came to acquire our land,” shouted a woman protestor.
Officials of Nabard consultancy private limited told villagers about the benefits and development this area will witness once the company start s developing the project. Other than direct and indirect jobs, local businesses will also flourish.
Not wanting to listen to anything, the protestors sat silently flashing placards with slogans against the company.
Sources said the company needed 551 acres of land for this project. They said gram sabha is an important step to move ahead in this project.
