Hazaribag, August 1: A team of youths has launched a unique effort to increase greenery in the town. They are not only planting saplings but are also challenging their friends and acquaintances to do so by posting photos related to them on social media. Shashi Kant Kumar, a student living in the lodge, is an active NSS volunteer and student at Vinoba Bhave University. During his college days, he started a cleanliness and plantation campaign in the entire Hazaribag town and made people aware of the importance of trees.

Kumar said if you want change, first change yourself. Under the leadership of Shashi Kant, all the boys of the lodge planted and adopted a sapling. Everyone bought saplings with their own money and took a pledge to take care of them till all become full-grown trees. Not only this, they challenge their friends to plant saplings by launching a campaign through Facebook. Kumar said that there is a great need to plant trees to prevent the devastation of tomorrow. “Now there is no time left to think. That’s why we have been doing this campaign continuously,” he said and expressed confidence that this campaign will make our city green again.

Rohit Verma, director of Ho Entertainment and actor Abhishek Singh were also present alongwith Kumar while planting saplings in the Matwari area. A plant was also adopted by the Ho Entertainment Cultural Forum. Director Rohit Verma said that this is a necessary initiative. Accept this challenge and must plant at least one plant and adopt it, only then our tomorrow will be safe, he appealed to all. Others assisting in this campaign are Sachin, Aman, Vikash, Tarun, Anand, Manish, Ranveer, Anshu, Sikandar, Sonu, Aarav, Sudesh and Mahesh.
