Ramgarh, April 28: Hazaribagh SP Manoj Ratan Chothe has taken action in the Nand Kishore Mahto suicide case. Taking action, the SP has suspended five cops with immediate effect.
The cops include ASI Raj Kishore Prasad, security guards Sanjeev Sharan, Jagjivan Mahto, Sanjay Ram and Santosh Murmu posted in security.
The SP said that a judicial inquiry has been recommended in this matter. There will also be a CID inquiry. A proposal in this regard has been sent to the state government.
At present, more than half a dozen cases are registered against the deceased for demanding extortion and levy. Earlier, the deceased was a Maoist. Later, after leaving the organization, he was working as a hardcore PLFI worker to extort money by spreading panic in the coal mining areas from L&T, ONGC and other companies.
Nand Kishore Mahto alias Mahto Ji committed suicide on Tuesday (April 26) by hanging at Silwar Mufassil police station in Hazaribagh. The deceased was a resident of Barkagaon. He had gone to jail many times for criminal activities. He was recently released from jail.
He was taken into custody by the SIT on Monday (April 25) night due to the continuous complaint regarding the demand for the levy. He was kept in the police office located in Silwar from the point of view of security.
On Tuesday, he asked the guard to go to the toilet. After that he entered the toilet, he tore his vest and tied a knot in the door so that no one could come inside. Then taking support from the rubber of the vest, he swung from the gallows. When the door was broken after he did not come out for a long time, the whole scene came to the fore.
Later, the team of doctors arrived with the information about the incident to the senior police officer. The doctors declared him dead. His body was brought to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital for post-mortem in the presence of Magistrate Sadar Circle Officer Rajesh Kumar, where three doctors constituted in the board did the post-mortem.
