Ranchi, April 28: An accused of an attempt to murder, Mohammed Wasir (28), escaped from police custody while undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi.
He was brought to RIMS on the complaint of abdominal pain after he was arrested on April 25 from Rahmat Nagar under the Pelawal police station area of Hazaribagh district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Ratan confirmed the escape saying that he suspended two cops deputed for his security.
Asked SP Ratan about the action to bring back the accused in police custody again he said, “Information has been sent to those close to the accused and it is expected he will return by evening.”
Asked about further legal action in the matter SP Ratan said, “He was already booked under various sections of IPC including 341, 323, 307 and 379. As he escaped from the police custody action will be taken against him under two additional sections of IPC including 224 and 225.”
