Ramgarh, April 20: A few miscreants, who are suspected to be Maoists, raided the Damodar river ghat of Giddi-Dutto border area of Giddi police station under Hazaribagh district last night.

The criminals fired about six rounds of bullets in the air. Due to this, there was a stampede-like situation among the people engaged in transporting illegal sand on the river bank. The criminals also set the Forklane machine on fire which was engaged in transporting sand.

According to the information, sand is being transported through Forklanes and Hyva trucks from the river bank for a long time. It is being said that the incident might have been carried out by the militant organization regarding the levy.

It is also being speculated that the incident has been carried out to prove dominance in the sand trade. However, the police are reluctant to reveal anything in the matter.
