Ranchi: Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has extended his support for the decision to grant 4% reservation to Muslims in Karnataka, asserting that Muslim communities in BJP-ruled states are often subjected to discrimination and denied their rightful entitlements.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ansari said, “Muslims are being deprived of their rights in several BJP-ruled states. The Karnataka government’s decision to ensure 4% reservation for Muslims is a step towards justice and inclusivity.”
His remarks come amid rising debates over community-based reservations across several states. The minister emphasized the importance of equal opportunity and affirmative action for backward sections of society, regardless of religious identity.
Probe Launched Into Deaths Of Pahariya Children
Dr. Ansari also addressed the recent mysterious deaths of children from the Pahariya tribal community in Sahibganj. The state health department has initiated an investigation into the incident.
“The government is taking this matter seriously. The health department has started an in-depth probe to determine the cause of the deaths,” Dr. Ansari stated. The Pahariya tribe is one of Jharkhand’s most vulnerable and marginalized tribal communities, and the unexplained deaths have triggered concern over healthcare access and intervention in remote regions.
Officials from the health department have been dispatched to the region, and the findings of the investigation are expected to be made public soon.
