Jamshedpur, June 26: Several isolated areas in north- western Jharkhand is expected to witness moderate to heavy rain today, said weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre.
Some of the places included Chatra, Garhwa, Koderma, Latehar, Lohardaga and Palamu.
The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) was passing through Veraval, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Udaipur, Narnaul, Ambala and Katra.
A low-pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-West Bengal coasts with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 Km above the mean sea level.
It is very likely to move west-north westwards across north Odisha and Jharkhand during next two days.
Met statistics revealed that light to moderate rain was experienced at a few places over the state during the past 24- hours.
Weathermen also issued a forecast of thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places over the state during the next 24- hours
According to statistics, Jharkhand has so far after the onset of monsoon received 41.3 mm of rain against a normal of 139.9 mm, a deficit of 70 per cent.
Weathermen said unless it rains heavily for the next few days it will be difficult to make up for the deficit in June, the first month of monsoon.
