Jamshedpur, Aug 7: Several districts located in north-eastern Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy rain today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre.
The vulnerable districts include Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Sahibganj and Deoghar.
The forecast also indicated thunderstorms and lightning at a few isolated places today.
Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation over Bihar was today lying over southern Bihar and neighbourhood extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level with a trough aloft roughly along Lat. 88°E to the north of 22°N at 3.1 Km above mean sea level.
The system would also result in intermittent rain at several places over Jharkhand today.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Amritsar, Yamuna Nagar, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Patna, Malda and thence eastwards towards Manipur.
Statistics showed that against a normal of 571 mm, the state has so far received 355 mm of rain, resulting in a deficit of 38 per cent.
