Jamshedpur, July 28: Several places in northern Jharkhand is expected to experience heavy showers today, as per a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Weathermen said the monsoon trough at means sea level was today passing through Daltonganj and hence there is a possibility of heavy rain in north-western and north-eastern Jharkhand today.
Met department officials also did not rule out thundershowers and lightning activity in isolated places over the state.
Most places across the state would witness a generally cloudy sky today.
Notably, this year’s weak monsoon has resulted in a rain deficit of 50 per cent so far posing a drought threat in over 12 districts including Chatra, Godda, Sahibganj, Pakur, Jamtara and Deoghar which has recorded scanty rainfall wherein the deficit is between 60 and 99 per cent.
Against a normal of 467.4 mm, the state has so far received rainfall of 234.4 mm, a deficit of 50 per cent.
Weathermen said the huge rain deficit would prevail at the end of July, the second monsoon month.
