Ranchi, June 3: A HEC worker Ranjit Nardwar (40), also known as Ranthia, was shot dead today morning while he was going to his duty from his residence.
Police recovered his body with a bullet injury on its head from Kulhuttu forest under Karra police station area after being informed of the incident. The body was sent for autopsy at the district’s Sadar Hospital.
The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Khunti Superintendent of police Aman Kumar said: “Family members have been called to ascertain some reason.”
A locality resident hinted at a ‘land dispute’ as a possible reason.
“Ranjit was associated with land dealing. I think he was murdered after some dispute over land,” the resident said without being specific.
