Ranchi: Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi has leveled serious allegations against the Hemant Soren-led government, accusing it of sheltering Bangladeshi infiltrators. He pointed out that 13 suspected Bangladeshis were detained in Mumbai, all of whom possessed Aadhaar cards issued from the Radhanagar area of Sahibganj district in Jharkhand.
Identical Birth Dates Raise Eyebrows
Marandi highlighted that the Aadhaar records of one woman and twelve men arrested all showed the same birth date — January 1. When questioned, the Sahibganj Superintendent of Police informed that the district commissioner had formed a committee to investigate the matter.
Sahibganj and Pakur: Hotbeds of Infiltration
Due to their proximity to Bangladesh, Sahibganj and Pakur regions have been under the spotlight for rampant infiltration. Marandi alleged that the Hemant Soren government, driven by vote bank politics, facilitated illegal entry of Bangladeshis and provided them with Aadhaar and voter ID cards.
Existence of Tribals Under Threat
According to Marandi, these actions have endangered the very existence of the indigenous tribal communities in Santhal Pargana. He also criticized the state government’s move to challenge a High Court order investigating infiltration in the Supreme Court, calling it a clear indication of the government’s intentions.
Demand for Transparency and Accountability
Marandi demanded that the state government refrain from suppressing or covering up the investigation under the guise of inquiries. He urged immediate disclosure regarding when and how the Aadhaar cards of the detained individuals were issued and by whom. He also insisted that the Sahibganj district administration should promptly make the facts public and take strict action.
