Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who took oath on November 28, will expand his cabinet today, December 5, at a swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan’s Ashok Garden. The official announcement of the ceremony was made on December 4, with the event scheduled to commence at 12 noon.
Protem Speaker Stephen Marandi will also take oath during the event. However, the list of legislators set to join the cabinet has not yet been disclosed.
Coalition Agreement on Ministerial Allocation
The coalition government has reportedly agreed on a formula for cabinet positions, with six ministers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), four from the Congress, and one from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Sources indicate that Sanjay Yadav, the RJD legislator from Godda, is likely to be inducted into the cabinet. Initially, the name of Deoghar legislator Suresh Paswan was considered, but he may now take on the role of party leader in the Assembly.
From the Congress, former minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon may step into a leadership role within the legislative party, with Kolebira MLA Naman Vixel Kongadi or Khijri MLA Rajesh Kacchap being considered for a cabinet berth.
Women Representation in the Cabinet
With five female legislators securing victories under the Congress banner, at least one is expected to be included in the cabinet. Mahagama MLA Deepika Pandey Singh is a frontrunner for the post. Additionally, legislators like Jamtara’s Irfan Ansari, Podaiyahat’s Pradeep Yadav, Bermo’s Jaymangal Singh, and Chhatarpur’s Radhakrishna Kishore are being considered for ministerial roles.
Balancing Experience and Youth
The JMM is likely to include a mix of experienced leaders and young energy in the cabinet. Potential candidates include Chaiabasa’s Deepak Birua, Ghatshila’s Ramdas Soren, Madhupur’s Hafizul Hassan, Bhawanathpur’s Anant Pratap Dev, Jama’s Dr. Louis Marandi, and Tundi’s Mathura Mahato.
There is also speculation about Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahato and Rajmahal MLA MT Raja securing cabinet positions. If Stephen Marandi is selected as the Speaker, former Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto may join the cabinet.
JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya stated that the cabinet will reflect a balance of seasoned leaders and dynamic youth.
