Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has issued a notice to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) regarding the cancellation of former Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Maroo’s lifetime membership. The notice follows a hearing on Monday in response to writ petition WPC/2082/2022. JSCA has been asked to respond within four weeks.
In 2019, following the JSCA elections, Ajay Maroo was expelled from the association for allegedly using the national emblem on his letterhead despite being a former MP. In 2020, without prior notice, JSCA barred him from participating in any association activities and from using the club and stadium facilities.
Ajay Maroo’s writ petition claims that he had raised objections to the proceedings of JSCA’s Annual General Body Meeting. Following this, the association restricted his involvement in any JSCA activities and verbally indicated the termination of his lifetime membership. Maroo has requested the court to allow him to participate in JSCA’s activities and to reinstate his access to the stadium and club facilities.
