Shimla, Aug 27: The state administration has made a key decision under “Vyavstha Parivartan” to stop honouring dignitaries by giving those shawls, caps and bouquets during official ceremonies.

This choice was made official by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who cited current natural disaster worries as justification. No official honouring or felicitation ceremonies will be held at government events until October 31, 2023, in accordance with these regulations.

The customary guard of honour given to VVIPs on field trips was also suspended earlier by the state government until September 15 of this year.

Collectively, these actions demonstrate the state’s dedication to achieving substantive change and supporting a practical approach to governing.

“The state government’s decision not only aligns with the need to channel resources and attention towards managing natural calamities but also underscores a departure from symbolic formalities to more substantive actions in the realm of governance,” said the Chief Minister.

Up to 281 roads in Himachal Pradesh, including National Highway 305, were previously shut by rain, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre on Sunday.

177 water supply schemes have also been hampered in addition to this. The official data also showed that there had been no fire occurrences in the previous 24 hours.

In the meantime, at least 367 people have perished in rain-related accidents in Himachal Pradesh this year since the start of the monsoon, the State Disaster Management Authority said on Friday.

Since the start of the monsoon on June 24, almost seven people have died each day on average in incidents related to rain in the hilly state, according to official data.
