Ranchi, Nov 22: Hockey India’s general secretary Bhola Nath Singh has been nominated by the National Sports Federations (NSF) for the election of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) which will take place on December 10. Along with him, the member of Hockey India Ashrita Lakra has also been nominated.

Notably, Bhola Nath Singh has previously been the president of Hockey Jharkhand and has helped in building many famous players from Jharkhand.

Umesh Sinha, the IOA election’s returning officer, revealed the names of the men and women who had been nominated as members of the electoral college from the 33 qualifying national sports federations.

It was announced that the government-appointed administrators’ nominations for table tennis, kabaddi, and judo had been approved. Yachting, pool and snooker were associate members and did not accept nominations.

The nomination submitted by the handball faction recognised by the government was chosen from the two factions. In the case of taekwondo, both factions’ nominations were turned down.

The IOA Executive Council will pick a president, senior vice-president, two vice presidents, two joint secretaries, and six executive members, one of whom must be a man and one of whom must be a woman, from among the eight SOMs. The Executive Council will also include the two representatives of the Athletics Commission.

From November 25 to November 27, candidates must present their names in person. The list of nominees will be posted on November 30 following review. The final list of candidates will be revealed on December 4 after the withdrawal deadline. On December 10, the election will take place, and the results will be made public by 3 p.m.
