Hyderabad, April 13: In two criminal charges for alleged hate remarks, AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi was acquitted by a special court, his elder brother and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi stated in a tweet today. Akbaruddin Owaisi, the AIMIM’s floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, was facing charges for allegedly delivering hate speeches in Telangana’s Nizamabad and Nirmal in December 2012. The prosecution failed to show appropriate evidence in the cases, according to the special sessions court for MPs/MLAs at Nampally metropolitan courts in Hyderabad today.

“Alhamdulilah Akbaruddin Owaisi has been acquitted by MP/MLA Special Court in two criminal cases against him for alleged hate speeches. Grateful to all for their prayers and support. Special thanks to Advocate Abdul Azeem sb & senior lawyers who provided their valuable assistance,” Asaduddin Owaisi said.

Multiple complaints have already been filed against Akbaruddin Owaisi for allegedly delivering hate speeches in Nizamabad on December 8, 2012, and Nirmal town on December 22, 2012. He was likewise detained and later released on bail.

The Nizamabad case was investigated by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and a charge sheet was filed in 2016, while the Nirmal case was handled by the district police and a charge sheet was filed in the same year. In the Nizamabad case, a total of 41 witnesses were questioned, whereas in the Nirmal case, 33 people were questioned.

In 2019, two complaints accusing him of creating hate speech were filed in courts in Hyderabad and Karimnagar. He later stated that certain people were manipulating his speech for political benefit by adding words, and he denied making any insulting statements.

The Chandrayangutta politician stated the RSS has not yet recovered from the 15-minute blow he gave in his 2012 address on July 23, 2019, at a public meeting in Karimnagar, Telangana. Members of the VHP and Bajrang Dal also filed a police report stating that he made dangerous comments in Karimnagar that could incite one community against the other. They alleged that Owaisi tried to provoke a community by recalling the objectionable comments he made in 2012.
