Suryakumar Yadav, who is perhaps the best T20 batsman in the world right now, has taken the top spot in the ICC T20I rankings for batters, which were revealed on Wednesday. One of the most effective batters in the current T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia has been Surya. Surya has scored 15, 51*, and 68 in the tournament’s first three games.

He is currently only the second Indian to hold the top spot in the ICC T20I batter rankings, making him the 23rd player overall.

Virat Kohli is the only other Indian to hold the top spot among hitters in the T20I Rankings.

“Yadav’s 51 not out off 25 balls against the Netherlands in Sydney and a valiant 68 off 40 against South Africa in Perth have helped him overtake New Zealand’s Devon Conway and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, who had held the top spot since 4 September this year,” said ICC in a release.

With scores of 104 against Sri Lanka and 62 against England, New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips also rose in the rankings, reaching a career-high seventh place. Rilee Rossouw, a South African batsman, also cracked the top 10 thanks to his 109 against Bangladesh. He climbed 17 spots to a seventh place that was a career high.
