New Delhi, Oct 19: Following an update of the ICC Men’s Player Rankings released on Wednesday, India’s Suryakumar Yadav will start the T20 World Cup as the second best batter in the format.
After another solid performance during the tri-series in New Zealand, Pakistan’s opener Mohammad Rizwan (861 rating points) has increased his lead at the top of the T20I batter rankings. Suryakumar (838) is still in second place ahead of the highly anticipated match between the two neighbours on Sunday at the MCG. In the most recent update, KL Rahul (13), Virat Kohli (15), and captain Rohit Sharma (16) are all stagnant.
Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, is ranked third, ahead of Devon Conway of New Zealand and Aiden Markram of South Africa.
Following the most recent update to the batter rankings, aggressive New Zealand right-hander Glenn Phillips rose an amazing 13 ranks to tie for 10th place as a result of his outstanding tri-series performances against Bangladesh and Pakistan.
With 173 rating points, Hardik Pandya also held steady at sixth place in the T20I all-rounder rankings. Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh, will compete in the T20 World Cup as the best all-arounder.
With two successive half-centuries in Bangladesh’s final two games, Shakib earned the top spot thanks to a strong tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand. Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan was replaced by Shakib.
