New Delhi, March 2: After missing the recently ended three-match series against Sri Lanka, former skipper Virat Kohli fell out of the top ten of the ICC T20I Batting Rankings for the second time. After the series against the Lankans in Lucknow and Dharamsala, skipper Rohit Sharma dropped two places to 13th.
Virat Kohli, who was ranked tenth after the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, was rested for the series’ final match and the whole T20I series against Sri Lanka. Kohli, in particular, had shown indications of resurgence when he blasted a match-winning fifty against the West Indies in the second T20I.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who has a perfect record as captain since taking over as full-time T20I skipper, struggled in the Sri Lanka T20Is, getting out twice to Dushmantha Chameera. In three matches against Sri Lanka, he only scored 50 runs.
Shreyas Iyer, who was in outstanding form throughout the series, climbed 27 places to 18th in the T20I Batters Rankings. Iyer amassed an astounding 204 runs at a strike rate of 174 during India’s 3-0 thrashing of Sri Lanka last month, scoring three unbeaten half-centuries.
The only Indan in the top ten is KL Rahul, who also missed the Sri Lanka series. Meanwhile, Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka shot an outstanding 75 in the second game of the series, propelling him to ninth place in the rankings.
