New Delhi: Former WWE superstar and BJP leader Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as The Great Khali, has expressed deep anguish over the brutal murder of national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav, allegedly shot dead by her own father. Speaking during the Fit India Sundays on Cycle event on Sunday, Khali highlighted not only the importance of physical fitness but also the urgent need for societal change to protect and empower daughters.
Khali Stresses Fitness and Women’s Empowerment
Praising the Fit India initiative, Khali said, “Feels proud to be here. I see youngsters here cycling, and it is our Prime Minister’s dream of a fit India. India can be a Vishwaguru only when our people are fit. Everyone should dedicate at least one hour a day to their fitness.”
However, Khali’s emotional comments on the Radhika Yadav case stood out as he condemned the tragic incident. “This is an unfortunate incident that a man killed his own daughter. How will we work towards our motto of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ if we go on killing our daughters?” he questioned, visibly disturbed.
“Daughters Are No Less Than Sons”
Emphasizing the need for a mindset shift, Khali added, “We cannot become a Vishwaguru till we support our daughters. I have a daughter. Daughters are no less than sons, and it is all a matter of mentality, which some people still need to change… Everyone should support their daughters and motivate them to pursue sports.”
The Shocking Murder of Radhika Yadav
Radhika Yadav, 25, was allegedly shot dead by her father Deepak Yadav over disagreements related to her tennis academy in Sector 57, Gurugram. Her body was cremated on July 11 after a post-mortem examination confirmed multiple gunshot wounds.
Gurugram Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandeep Kumar confirmed that the murder stemmed from disputes surrounding the tennis academy. Police are also probing Radhika’s involvement in a music video, though no link has yet been established between the video and her murder.
Khali’s remarks have added a strong voice to the nationwide outrage over the incident, underscoring the need for both societal change and support for women’s aspirations.
