IIT ISM Dhanbad announces teams for All-India Annual Inter-IIT sports meet

Dhanbad, Dec 7: The men’s and women’s sports teams of IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad for the 55th  All India inter-IIT sports meet have been announced. The meet is to be held at IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee from December 14 to December 22.

IIT ISM sports officer DN Acharya said that teams would leave for Delhi on December 12. He said the institution’s teams in all disciplines have made special preparation but there are high hopes from the badminton team.

Last year, the IIT ISM badminton team reached the semifinal in the championship held at IIT Kharagpur. However, it lost to IIT Delhi in the semifinals.

“We are hopeful this time of winning the championship as our players of both men’s and women’s teams have prepared hard. Even in practice matches with top ranks players of Jharkhand, they have performed well,” said badminton coach Md Izhar Alam.

 

Following are players of IIT ISM for different events of the national championship-

 

Badminton:

Men’s team– K Harshvardhan, Suyash Jaiswal, Hrutidipan, Advaya Singh, Potturu Sai Chetan

Women’s team– Vibha Kumari, Sabiha Salma, and Cherukuri  Madhulika

Chess:

Gagan, Aryan Barsaiya, Gaurav Gupta, Kritartha Dey, Yash Gaikwad and Adithyan.

Tennis:

Men’s team- Akshat Sharma, Hritik Agrawal Shaswat  Mistry, Sidharth Gaur

Women’s team- S Harshada, Pragyana Thota and Arpana Divyansh

 

Table Tennis:

Men’s team- Akshaya Dixit, Anshul Goyal, Tanish Sahu and Akshat Sharma

Women’s team- Anushka Paul, Avantika, Unnati Dutt

 

Squash:

Men’s team- Nimesh Tewari, Mukul Kulshrestha, Vaibhav Bhardwaj, Naman Sharma,

Women’s team- Isha Bajpai, Indira Mishra, Muskan Khan.

 

Weight lifting:  

Dharma Bhukya, Naveen Nayak, Shivam Verma, Shivam Kumar, Anshuman Harishchandan, Anuj Gupta, Apurva Shandilya, Vishal Kumar Yogi, Rishi Raj, Kashyap Gogoi and Manvendra Singh

 

Basketball:

Men’s team- Nikhil Shingne, Joel Babu, Nikhil J Jaison, Vishak Bhat, Vibhu Khare, Nikhil Nemnani, Manish Panjwani, Pranay Fartyal, Shashank Singh, Himanshu Damodar, Abhishek Kumar Singh, Komal Anurag Ekka
