Dhanbad, June 20: The last date for registration in IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad for the third Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge is June 25.
An official of IIT ISM today said that the registration kick-started on June 13 and will be closed on June 25.
The Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge is an ambitious initiative of IIT ISM to promote innovation and creativity among school students. “It aims to foster a culture of innovation among students by encouraging them to think creatively, solve problems and develop innovative ideas and projects,” an official said.
Students of classes 8 to 12 of any school in Jharkhand are eligible to participate in the innovation competition in a team of a maximum of three members. Each school can submit a maximum of two ideas or two teams with one unique idea each.
The deadline for idea submission for phase-I of the event is July 10. The result would be announced on July 10. The presentation ideas for phase II will be on July 22 and the result would be declared the next day on July 23.
Similarly, the presentation of the idea for phase III will be on August 5 and the result would be declared on August 6. The submission of ideas for the 4th phase would be on August 26 and the result would be declared on August 27.
The IIT ISM official said the onsite mentoring round for the event will be held from September 4 to 8 while the final is scheduled on September 9.
He said that the Jharkhand School Innovation Challenge also provides students of the state an opportunity to identify and analyze real-world problems and come up with innovative solutions. This helps in developing their critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills.
“This event also offers a platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas and projects to a wider audience including industry professionals and policymakers. Moreover, this event also helps in recognizing and rewarding talented students and provides them exposure and networking opportunities,” an official said.
Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi carried out an online inauguration of this competition on June 17. Prof Prem Vrat, chairperson of the IIT ISM Board of Governors and director Prof Rajiv Shekhar were also present on the occasion.
