IIT ISM signs MoU with Sonepar India Pvt Ltd for coal quality analysis

Dhanbad, Aug 9: IIT (ISM) has signed an MoU with Sonepar India Pvt Ltd (SIPL), a leader in Industrial Automation Product Solutions, for the application of Industry 4.0 for machine failure analysis, safety management plan and coal quality analysis.

Industry 4.0 means the realization of digital transformation of the field, delivering real-time decisions, enhanced productivity, flexibility and agility.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof JK Pattanayak, officiating director, IIT (ISM); Prof Dheeraj Kumar, deputy director and Sanjay Saha, regional head, Sonepar India Pvt Ltd (SIPL).

An official said the MoU will also ensure augmented reality for training, remote maintenance of plant and machine, risk identification and risk assessment and mine simulation.

Prof RK Sinha, head, CIL Innovation & Incubation Centre, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and  Sanjay Saha, regional head, east, Sonepar India Pvt Ltd would be the coordinators for the project and for day-to-day correspondence.

Giving details, RK Sinha said collaboration of CIL Innovation & Incubation Centre of IIT (ISM) will also help in the integration of mine plan with the machines for better quality control, enhancing productivity.

Prof Sagar Pal, dean R&D; Rahul Raj, executive officer, CIL Innovation & Incubation Centre; Suraj Prakash, CEO, TEXMiN; Raja Shivaji Ghosh, managing director SIPL; Amit  Dembi, business head (automation); Paritosh Kumar, director (Automation), Souvik Lahiri, zonal head; Syed Javed, asst manager (sales) and Tuhin Sarkar, manager (Sales) were also present on the occasion.

The official said the MoU aims to provide opportunities to innovate and design, unique and incentivized solutions for immediate beneficiaries like the local community, contract workers of CIL, students and employees of the institute; industries, society and the nation as a whole.

Sonepar India Private Limited, formerly known as ESK India, on the other hand, is a leader in B2B electrical distribution of electrical equipment, technical services and related solutions for telecom, industrial automation, integrated supply, networking solution, renewable energy, lighting, power distribution, cabling solutions, safety tools and engineering supplies primarily focused on industrial and commercial markets.
