Ranchi, Sept 21: The State chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Jharkhand Health Service Association (JHSA), the frontal organization of government doctors, today officially served a work boycott notice to the state government and the management of Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi.
IMA president Dr AK Singh, secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Singh, JHSA president DR PP Shah and secretary Dr Thakur Mritunjay Kumar Singh, in a joint notice, served today to additional chief secretary (ACS) health Arun Kumar Singh informing him that all the members ( doctors) of IMA and JHSA in the state would proceed on indefinite work boycott from 6 am of Friday ( September 22) till all the accused of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur doctor assault case are arrested.
A similar notice has been served to director RIMS Ranchi, deputy commissioners (DC) and civil surgeons of all 24 districts of the state also.
However, the IMA and the JHSA office bearers have exempted emergency and essential treatment service from the work boycott agitation.
Notably, the IMA and the JHSA had given an ultimatum on Wednesday to go on an indefinite work boycott agitation from September 22 if assaulters of the MGMMCH doctor are not arrested. MGMMCH doctor Kamlesh Oraon was brutally attacked by attendants after death of a critical child patient on Monday night. The doctor had received serious head injury.
IMA and JHSA officials said that they are left with no option but to take a drastic step with heavy heart as work boycott hampers health services to patients.
The Dhanbad district chapter of IMA and the JHSA has not served the letter but doctors are geared up to make work boycott effective in all areas.
