IMD issues lightning alert, light to moderate rain at isolated places in Jharkhand today

Jamshedpur, Sept 5:  India Meteorological Department issued an alert of lightning and light to moderate rain in isolated parts of Jharkhand today.

Whethermen said that today’s satellite pictures revealed formation of rain bearing clouds in several parts of the state.

The monsoon trough was still passing through the foothills of the Himalayas. Therefore whethermen ruled out possibility of heavy rain in Jharkhand in the next 48 hours at least.

According to the forecast, state capital Ranchi will witness cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers later in the day.

The day temperature would continue to be two to three notches above normal in most parts of the state today.

Rain data suggested that against a normal of 831 mm the state has so far received  623 mm of rain, a deficit of 25 per cent.

Several places including Jamshedpur and other parts of southern and Central Jharkhand today woke up to bright sunshine.

But, whethermen said like to moderate rain was expected later in the day today.
