Jamshedpur, Aug 21: The placements for the batch of 2018-22 at the Adityapur-based National Institute of Technology ( NIT ) began on an impressive note.
Initial figures suggest that the tech cradle of national repute is heading for another successful placement year.

The batch-size for placement comprises over 500 students.
Placement of over 100 students within a fortnight of the beginning of the recruitment process is a record in the history of NIT. And this has happened against odds- the Covid-induced pandemic and lockdown restrictions in the state and other parts of the country.

Professor-in-charge of NIT’s Training and Placement Cell, Prahlad Prasad said, ” The placement process begun well. It was a record of sorts as this was for the first time over 100 students got recruited in such a short period of time.”
He went on to say that the companies which so far participated in the placement process were recruiting more students compared to last year.
” The placement process will continue for one year. We are expecting the participation of around 160 companies. Looking at the current trend of recruitments we are hopeful of achieving 90 per cent placements by October,” he added.
Gunjan Kumar, a B.Tech student who completed his internship at Intuit and was offered an annual salary package of Rs 35 lakh thanked the placement cell.
“All credits go to the training and placement cell team for this remarkable achievement. The constant motivation and guidance of our director Prof. K K Shukla also resulted in this year’s record placement so far with good salary offers,” he said.
Gunjan was born and brought up in Ranchi. His father, Vinay Kumar, is a lab technician and his mother, Shiwani Kumari Mehta, works as a teacher in a government school.
Some of the other recruiters so far included Juspay, Cashfree, Intuit, Tata Steel, and Proc DNA, a global consulting firm.
